"Healthy, Overcomers, Purposed with an Eternal Perspective"

The 5 Love Languages of Teenagers by Gary Chapman is a book for parents, teachers, mentors, administrators, counselors, and more. Chapman describes in detail how to identify the love language of teenagers. The main audience of this book is parents. I believe that all individuals connected to teenagers can benefit from reading this book. Gary Chapman identifies 5 ways of showing love to teenagers. He starts with words of affirmation and emphasizes how important it is to speak encouraging words to your teen. He then goes on to describe physical touch, quality time, acts of service, and gifts. Not only does Chapman describe the languages, he also discusses the appropriate times or inappropriate time with the use of real-life examples. Gary Chapman supports his reasoning with the use of research, his experience as a family counselor, and Biblical text.

I truly enjoyed this book not only from the perspective of a parent but also a teacher and mentor. It was a very easy read but is very detailed. I don’t normally care for non-fiction books, but this one is amazing.  This book kept my attention and I didn’t want to put it down. Gary Chapman wrote in a very loving tone and also caused me to reflect on my relationship with my pre-teen.

Also, Chapman only repeats or emphasizes those areas that he wants parents to really focus. This is a handbook to be utilized often. I would recommend that individuals put aside their set way of thinking and open their mind to this great resource.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this book. I selected it to review because I wanted to understand my son’s stages of development and why he responds different now that he is almost a teenager. This book answered many questions for me.

I gave the book 5/5 stars, and I would recommend it to all individuals that interact with teenagers. You will not be disappointed.

Dr. David Jeremiah is a well known pastor and Bible teacher. He has written more than 10 Biblically sound books including "The Jeremiah Study Bible." This latest book, "The Spiritual Warfare Answer Book" is a must read for all! This book is set up like a devotional and is a very easy read. It contains sup-topics and scripture references for deeper study. There are 212 pages of Bible based answers regarding Spiritual Warfare.

In the book, Dr. Jeremiah defines Spiritual Warfare, the source of Spiritual Warfare, and how Christians should battle against the enemy, Satan. Some of the questions that stood out while reading the book are: Is Satan a god? Is Satan the opposite of God? and How do I put on Christ?

Throughout the book, Dr. Jeremiah never offers his opinion to the questions, but always points the reader back to the Word of God.

Overall, I found this book informative but not overwhelming. Although Dr. Jeremiah didn't go into depth with the topics, he did leave room for individuals to complete their own personal Bible study using the scripture references.

This book could be a great gift for one to be read over and over again as a reminder of what we see in our world today and how to war against the evil. It is truly inspired by the Holy Spirit! Dr. David Jeremiah did it again. He is an amazing teacher and a mighty man of God!

Hope-in-Christ Book Club has been reading the true story of "Laura." This book has pulled at our heart strings to say the least! Laura is a very brave young lady who shares her testimony of abuse as a child. If I could select a theme for this book, I would say "God is Faithful Even in Our Pain." Laura couldn't go to her parents because her home was the source of her abuse. Throughout the story, she shares how she found the strength to continue to call on our heavenly Father.

Many of us, like Laura have cried out to God even when we did not understand our struggles or even who He really is as Creator and LORD. God promises to take care of us even when our parents forsake us. He is our heavenly Father. So as we continue to go through life's struggles, remember that God uses individuals like Laura to record His greatness in their lives. We all have a testimony to share.  It was only God's grace that kept Laura through ever test and trial. She experienced extreme abuse, but God remained faithful in her life. The God that Laura called out to is the same God that we can depend on in our time of need. He is faithful and just!! He knows the plans that He has for us. He will be with us and keep us even until the end of time!!

If you are a youth leader, mentor, or parent of an awesome young lady, then this book is for you! "101 Ways to Have Fun by Faithgirlz" is an amazing resource. This aid can be adapted for girls of all age groups! It offers out of the box ideas for girls to make the most of their time with friends, family, and even themselves.

This book has many glows! The ideas provided are differentiated for all levels of creativity! Some examples are cookie sharing, choreographing to your favorite song, and even creative ways to exercise. As a youth mentor, I know that this resource could used countless times. The book is well organized. It is divided up by chapters and themes. It is very appealing to the eye. The book is very colorful, gives specific instructions on what is needed, and provides step-by-step examples.

The only grow that I identified is with some of the pages of ideas. Many of them have great instructions. However, there are just a few that need to be more specified.

Overall, I truly adore this resource. It contains good, clean fun for young ladies. As a middle school teacher and mentor, this resource is greatly needed.

The scripture for Hope-In-Christ Book Club:

Matthew 6:22-23 - The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

We must continue to guard our eyes and our heart. Therefore, the books are carefully selected and assured that they are rooted in God's Word.
